La Rioja Alta Vina Arana Rioja Gran Reserva

Rioja Alta is now the only winery in Rioja to boast three Gran Reserva’s. Following 890 and 904’s lead in meticulous winemaking and a traditional style, the wine is slightly fresher and a pleasure to drink now. It is a blend of 95% Tempranillo with 5% Graciano for an aromatic lift, made from RASA’s own 40-year-old vines. The parcels are vinified separately, aged in American oak for three years before blending and maturing another 3 years in bottle. Even after 125 years, Rioja Alta continues to innovate Rioja while keep a firm grip on the traditional style of wine consumers expect from the region.

Dark-cherry red with a garnet-red rim. High aromatic intensity, with outstanding notes of ripe red fruit, red berries, wild strawberries and plum jam, leading to tertiary aromas from meticulous aging in oak: vanilla, cedar, tobacco, coffee, caramel and sweet patisserie notes. In the mouth, its initial freshness and structure, typical of this brand, predominate. Balanced, with soft, flavoursome tannins. Elegant, complex finish, where the ripe red fruit and balsamic notes provide a splendid end.
